RICARDO JASSO HERNANDEZ – Cedar and Granadillo – 2021

2021, Paracho, Mexico.  Solid cedar lattice braced soundboard, Granadillo back and sides, 650 mm scale, 51 mm nut width, armrest, sound ports on both sides of heel, 12 hole tieblock, lacquer finish.  Lutherie in Paracho dates back to the 18th century, and has been handed down by families through generations.  Stunningly figured Granadillo back and sides with sapwood accent.  Granadillo is a rosewood found in southern Mexico, sometimes referred to as Campinceran.  This is a powerful instrument with a deep warm character, excellent balance, and trebles that soar above the basses.
