DAVID DAILY – Cedar and SA Rosewood – 2005

2005, USA. Cedar soundboard, dark old growth flame figured SA rosewood back and sides, 650 mm scale, 52 mm. nut, Gotoh tuners, french polished shellac finish, high C fret. Dailys cedar sound is very bright and clear, not loose and booming. This guitar makes a bold statement, very assertive, with sparkling reverberant overtones. The tone is almost that of a well played spruce, considering the clarity, with the warmth of cedar filling it out. The SA back and sides are dark, rich, and stunning. The center of the back has figuration similar to flame maple, or flame mahogany. This is Daily at his fully matured art of lutherie. There are some unfortunate signs of use on the soundboard, and two closed bookmatched hairline cracks in the back, some finish wear. Otherwise structurally sound, and easily playable.
