ANTONIO MARIN-MONTERO – 650 – 2012 Cedar and SA Rosewood

2012, Granada, Spain. Cedar soundboard, beautifully figured SA rosewood back and sides. 650 mm scale, 52 mm nut width, 20th fret, fret markers at 5, 7, 10, 12, and under the first string at 17; french polished, Rubner tuners. Antonio Marin-Montero is the dean of the Granada school of lutherie. Granada guitars are typically bright, clear and responsive. This particular instrument captures a lifetime of experience as Marin nears the end of an illustrious career. The tone is very sweet, with the warmth imparted by the cedar, but very different from the dark tone typical of a Madrid cedar soundboard. This is more lively and full of resonance. Vibrations can be felt throughout all of the registers with a compelling depth of tone. Great projection and balance. Excellent condition, some button scratches on the back in the upper bout.
